My Kind of GOP guy

He voted against the Iraq war resolution in 2002 and has proposed abolishing the

Federal Reserve' name=c1> SEARCHNews News Photos Images Web' name=c3> Federal Reserve. His 1988 bid for president as the Libertarian candidate drew just slightly more than 400,000 votes nationwide.
Paul said it was irresponsible of Giuliani and other leaders to not examine the motivations of al Qaeda and other radical Islamic groups.

And on top of this - he gave Guiliani a list of books to read! Phenomonal!

Another book on the list was "Imperial Hubris," whose author appeared at the press conference to offer support for Paul.
"Foreign policy is about protecting America," said author Michael Scheuer, who used to head the CIA's bin Laden unit. "Our foreign policy is doing the opposite."

Before you Bushbots go off half cocked - look at the author of this book - yes I know another Bush hating liberal. I am kind of assuming you do not head the bin Laden unit of the CIA if you are a warm fuzzy lets make friends with the enemy kind of person.

This is a call to understand the enemy - something the current administration refuses to do.

Kevin - unfortunately, I think Ron Paul has an uphill climb in his fight for respect and legitamacy. His brother, Ru, has unfortunately made a mess of things for him.

Kevin,

I've been a registered Libertarian since 1995 - tried and true since graduating college as a confirmed marxist in 1991 - then I became a taxpayer.

If I can get you to endorse dimishing the role of the Fed and the dismantling of FICA then you and I and Ron will be on the same page.

Love

BO

P.S. - The Great Depression has been over since 12/7/1941

P.S.S. - Why'd you have to do that man, I finally got back in to the tunes here !!!

Diminished role of the Fed? Amen brother.

Dismantled FICA? Amen brother.

Brad as a Marxist? That would be entertaining.

On my reading list? The Looming Tower: Al Qaeda and the road to 9-11. Well written and very enlightening. The "cause" of 9-11 is not a simple one and therefore no politician will ever get it right. But if we want to succeed we better stop talking about the War on Terror and start talking about how we win the war of ideas with Islamic fundamentalists. It might start with the media not reporting a Pew Research poll as a good thing showing Muslims are "Mostly Mainstream" when the underlying statistics show:
-Only 43% of Muslims think they should adopt american customs
-Only 51% are very concerned with Islamic extremism
-Only 68% have an unfavorable view of Al Qaeda

Ru Paul is the Roger Clinton / Billy Carter of our time. Damn him..her..

"If I can get you to endorse dimishing the role of the Fed and the dismantling of FICA then you and I and Ron will be on the same page. "

Well - I will be damned. We are on the same page.

Fed is way way too big and getting bigger under W.

And if you are Californian - you should be outraged because you pay more to the Feds than the Feds give to California. Very nice.

Anyway everything that is great about government [Except the necessary military] happens at a local level. Schools, Cops, Parks, Sidewalks, Fire Departments - On and on - and they are begging for the money.

So I am down for a much smaller fed - Why is there a federal dept of education? Beat me - start with those fuckers.

FICA - I think this is the Social Security deal. It sucks - as implemented.

The problem with gutting it - is what do we do with the dumbshits who don't know their Vanguard frokm their assholes? Watch them starve in the street when they are 70? So Social Security is the rip off of the century - but what kind of social net should gov't [meaning us] offer? Since as a civilized society we are not willing to watch old people die of hunger and exposure?

FICA also covers Medicare - in this case I will triple my FICA expense if we put private insurers out of business tommorrow and go to a single payer universal health care like every other modern nation. This will save me and my employer $1000 per month on health care to see a Dr. 5 times a year [actually, just to spite the bastards I got cancer - so I get my and your money's worth!]

Anyway - Health Care is cheaper and better and everyone gets it everywhere but here - where the mythical marketplace delivers "the best" care anywhere...unless you look at charts and statistics and shit and then we are not so good after all - but we do spend more that others.

Back to the music soo, I promise - Kevin Heavy Rotation right now = The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers [great guitars]
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Catch a Fire and Kaya

New to the rotation is WIllie Nelson Milk Cow Blues - Very mellow and cool. One of those collaboration deals like supernatural - but very cool songs - easy to listen to, your foot taps, and your ear will love the piano.

Now someone suggest something to me that I must hear!
